Global Vision 2000 to Host Emergency Webinar on “WW3 and the Greater Middle East Region”

ISTANBUL / ACCRA / LONDON — Global Vision 2000, an international think tank, will host an emergency international webinar on Saturday, 22 August 2026, examining the rapidly changing geopolitical, security, military, energy and economic landscape of the Greater Middle East and its implications for the emerging global order.

The webinar, titled “WW3 and the Greater Middle East Region,” will take place at 5:00 PM Istanbul time / 2:00 PM GMT, corresponding to 8 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1448 AH.

The organisers describe the discussion as taking place at a critical crossroads for the region and the global economy, amid accelerating changes in international alliances, military alignments, energy corridors and financial relationships.

A Changing Global Order

The webinar will examine the possibility of a transition from the post-Bretton Woods international system, historically dominated by the United States and its allies, toward a more multipolar security, economic, financial and energy architecture.

Particular attention will be given to the growing debate within the Muslim world over political, military, financial and economic sovereignty, and the extent to which states and regional blocs are seeking greater strategic independence.

The discussion will also assess the evolution of the global order through the major conflicts and geopolitical crises of 1973, 1979, 1991, 2001 and the wars and conflicts that have intensified since 2023.

Gaza, Palestine and the Future of the Region

A major component of the webinar will be the changing situation in Palestine and the wider implications for Middle Eastern security. Speakers will examine the significance of the 20-Point Gaza Peace Plan of October 2025, developments surrounding Al-Aqsa, escalating tensions in the West Bank, and concerns over de facto annexation and the future political status of Palestinian territories.

The webinar will further consider competing regional diplomatic and strategic frameworks, including the USA-Iran agreement following the Islamabad talks, as well as the significance of the Makkah Pact signed in Saudi Arabia on 7 August 2026.

Among the central questions will be whether the region is moving toward a security architecture shaped by the Makkah Pact or toward the framework represented by the Washington-backed Abraham Accords.

The discussion will also explore whether the Makkah Pact represents primarily a mechanism of regional deterrence or carries wider sectarian and geopolitical implications, and whether emerging regional arrangements can effectively address Israeli expansionism and competing visions for the future of the Middle East.

His participation will focus on the implications of geopolitical transformation for Africa’s economic sovereignty, financial independence, energy security, development partnerships and the emerging multipolar global economy.

AFRIEF considers the restructuring of the global economic system to be an important issue for African countries, particularly as nations across the continent seek to diversify international partnerships, strengthen economic resilience and explore alternatives to conventional financial and development models.

Global Significance

The webinar comes amid growing debate over the future of the international system and the possibility of a fundamental realignment of global power.

The organisers argue that the developments unfolding across the Middle East cannot be viewed solely through the lens of regional conflict. They have wider consequences for global energy markets, international finance, trade routes, military alliances, diplomatic relations and the economic future of developing countries.

The webinar therefore seeks to provide a platform for critical discussion of the emerging geopolitical landscape and the possible consequences for the Muslim world, Africa and the wider Global South.
